Top Five Tips for Driving on the Coronation Weekend

The coronation weekend is a historic and festive occasion that many people are looking forward to. However, it also means that the roads will be busier and more congested than usual. If you are planning to drive on the coronation weekend, here are some tips to help you have a safe and enjoyable journey.
1. Plan ahead
Check the traffic conditions and road closures before you set off. You can use online tools such as Google Maps or Waze to get real-time updates and alerts. Avoid driving during peak hours or on routes that are likely to be affected by the coronation events. If possible, use public transport or alternative modes of travel such as cycling or walking.
2. Be prepared
Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and has enough fuel, oil, water and air pressure. Pack an emergency kit with items such as a first-aid kit, a flashlight, a blanket, a phone charger and some snacks and water. Also, carry your driver's license, insurance and registration documents with you at all times.
3. Be courteous
Respect the rules of the road and follow the directions of the police and traffic officers. Do not honk, tailgate, speed or weave in and out of lanes. Give way to emergency vehicles and pedestrians. Be patient and calm with other drivers and road users.
4. Be alert
Stay focused on the road and avoid distractions such as texting, talking on the phone or eating while driving. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you and adjust your speed according to the traffic and weather conditions. Watch out for hazards such as potholes, debris or animals on the road.
5. Be flexible
Expect delays and diversions on the coronation weekend. Be ready to change your route or your plans if necessary. Have a backup plan in case of an emergency or a breakdown. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the coronation weekend but do not let them distract you from driving safely.
If in doubt, call in at your local Kwik Fit
It could be a squeeking noise that occurs when you apply the brakes or a tyre that keeps losing pressure, if you are planning on heading out over the Coronation weekend but have concerns about your vehicle, don't leave it to chance, pop into your nearest Kwik Fit centre and our trained technicians will take a look for you. We'll inspect your vehicle for free and will outline any issues before carrying out repairs, giving you complete peace-of-mind before heading out on the road this bank holiday weekend.
