Race for the 2019 Kwik Fit BTCC Title
Kwik Fit | Friday 11th October 2019 3:19pm
With less than 24 hours to go until the Kwik Fit BTCC race weekend action returns for the finale at Brands Hatch this weekend, the race for the title is still well and truly on. Five drivers remain in the running with Colin Turkington having a 16 point lead over his closest rival Dan Cammish.
Colin Turkington
Colin Turkington has spent the majority of the season at the top of the table. However, his rivals have been closing in and he only holds a 16 point lead over closest rival Dan Cammish. Last year’s champion will be looking to secure his fourth BTCC title this weekend. However, maintaining his slim lead is by no means a guaranteed result with 67 points still up for grabs this weekend.
Dan Cammish
This season, Dan Cammish has consistently found himself on the podium which has put him in strong contention for the title heading into the final race weekend. In spite of a slow start, Cammish has steadily climbed the table to become Turkington’s closest rival. Cammish is optimistic that he might be able to reign Turkington in and also fend off the double threat of Andrew Jordan’s BMW. Jordan himself is also in title contention so will be going all out at Brands Hatch on the hunt for points.
Andrew Jordan
Only
1 point separates Jordan and Cammish, he will be hoping to catch Turkington and
Cammish and record more points to put him at the top of the table. He has
recorded 6 race wins which is more than anyone else in this year’s Kwik Fit
BTCC season including one at Brands Hatch at the beginning of the season. He’ll
be looking for more of the same this weekend in the fight for the title.
Josh Cook
Josh Cook has been consistently strong this season with the exception of a slight dip in form in mid-season and enjoyed a good weekend at Silverstone. The aim for Cook will be to maintain his good form and keep within touching distance of the championship leaders. He’ll be looking to pounce on any mistakes from the drivers ahead of him in the standings.
Tom Ingram
Ingram has enjoyed his first season in the new Toyota Corolla achieving four race wins. Two of these were achieved last time out at Silverstone to keep him in the running for the title. Ingram will be looking to put in another strong performance at Brands Hatch to keep himself in touch with the top of the table.
